Notearama Terms of Use
Welcome to Notearama! Before you dive in, here's what you're agreeing to — in plain English.
1. You're agreeing to these terms By using Notearama, you're agreeing to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
2. What is Notearama? Notearama is a platform where people can share and access information and documents. For the initial release, we do review and approve or reject notebooks for publication. In the future automatic self-publication may be supported. But we don't moderate everything that gets posted, so we can't guarantee that all content is accurate or complete, so use your own judgment.
3. How to behave on Notearama We want Notearama to be a helpful, respectful place. Please don't use it to post false, misleading, or hateful content; share anything violent or obscene; infringe on someone else's copyright or other rights; promote illegal activity; collect other users' personal information; or spam or solicit other users.
4. Creating an account Some features require an account. When you sign up, please provide accurate information and keep your login credentials safe. You're responsible for everything that happens under your account.
5. Your content You own what you post. That said, by posting on Notearama, you give us a license to display, distribute, and adapt your content to run the platform. Other users can also access and use your content as allowed by these Terms.
6. Intellectual property Notearama's design, logos, text, and other content belong to us and are protected by copyright law. You're welcome to use the site for personal, lawful purposes, but please don't copy, modify, resell, or reverse-engineer any part of it.
We also respect everyone else's intellectual property and expect you to do the same. If you believe someone has posted content that infringes your copyright, you can submit a DMCA takedown notice to us and we'll look into it promptly.
How to submit a copyright complaint (DMCA Notice) Send us a written notice that includes: your signature (physical or electronic); a description of the copyrighted work; where the infringing content is located on our site; your contact information; a statement that you believe the use is unauthorized; and a statement confirming everything in your notice is accurate, under penalty of perjury.
Send it to: Notearama Legal Department PO Box 301563, Escondido, CA 92027 📧 david at notearama.com
More info at copyright.gov/dmca.
Think your content was removed by mistake? You can submit a counter-notice with your signature, a description of the removed content and where it was, a statement (under penalty of perjury) that you believe it was removed in error, and your contact details including consent to federal court jurisdiction.
7. Community spaces and communication tools Notearama offers tools like forums, messaging, and notebooks. These are meant for respectful, relevant communication. Please don't use them to harass or threaten others; post harmful, obscene, or illegal content; spread viruses or malware; advertise or run commercial promotions (unless explicitly allowed); run chain letters, pyramid schemes, or surveys; collect other users' personal info without consent; or break any applicable laws.
We don't actively monitor everything posted, but we reserve the right to remove content or suspend access if something violates these Terms. Use common sense about what personal information you share in public spaces — we can't control what others do with it.
You own your submissions, but by posting them you give us a royalty-free license to use them as part of running the platform. We may also display your name alongside your content. We won't pay you for using your submissions, and we're not obligated to keep or publish them.
8. Links and third-party content We may link to outside websites or include third-party content, but we're not responsible for any of it. Always check the terms and privacy policies of any third-party site you visit. Don't copy or redistribute third-party content without permission from its owner.
9. No warranties Notearama is provided "as is." We do our best to keep things running smoothly, but we can't guarantee the site will always be error-free, uninterrupted, or completely secure. Use it at your own risk.
10. Limitation of liability If something goes wrong while using Notearama, our liability is limited. We're not responsible for lost profits, data loss, or other damages, even if we knew something could go wrong. We know that's not fun to read, but it's standard and important to be upfront about.
11. You've got our back If someone brings a legal claim against Notearama because of something you did on the platform or a violation of these Terms, you agree to cover our legal costs and any damages that result.
12. Account termination We can suspend or close your account at any time for any reason. You can also close your account anytime by logging in and cancelling, or by contacting us.
13. A few more things These Terms are the full agreement between you and Notearama. We may update them from time to time with changes posted here, and continued use of the site means you accept the updated Terms. These Terms are governed by the laws of California, and any disputes will be handled in California courts.
